Clinical Counseling Intern

Summer Rehagan

I believe counseling can be a place where you don't have to have all the answers. It can be a space to slow down, make sense of what you're experiencing, and learn more about yourself along the way. I enjoy working with children, adolescents, and young adults as they navigate the many changes, challenges, and experiences that come with growing into who they are. I strive to create an environment that feels welcoming, genuine, and comfortable. I want clients to feel like they can come as they are, whether they are working through a specific challenge or simply trying to better understand themselves. I especially enjoy helping young clients find ways to express themselves, recognize their strengths, and feel more confident in who they are.

Areas I Commonly Help With

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Self-esteem and confidence

  • Emotional awareness and regulation

  • Identity and self-discovery

  • Life transitions

  • Peer and family relationships

  • Communication skills

  • Children and adolescent concerns

  • Neurodivergent children and families

  • Young adult challenges

My Approach

I take a person-centered approach to counseling, meaning I believe the therapeutic relationship is an important part of creating meaningful change. I work to understand each client's individual experiences and perspective while creating a space where they can explore what is important to them.

I also draw from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches can help clients recognize patterns in their thoughts and behaviors, become more aware of their emotions, and make choices that align with the person they want to be.

I believe therapy should be flexible and individualized, and I adapt my approach based on each client's age, personality, goals, and needs.

My Experience

Before entering the counseling field, I worked as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) , where I supported neurodivergent children and their families. This experience shaped the way I approach working with children and taught me the importance of meeting each child at their individual level, being flexible in my approach, and recognizing progress in all its forms.

I am currently pursuing my Master's degree in Clinical Counseling. I am especially passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults and helping them navigate the process of understanding themselves, building confidence, and developing skills they can carry with them beyond the therapy room.

My hope is that clients leave therapy feeling a little more understood, a little more confident, and better equipped to navigate whatever comes next.
